Meet Robin, Penelope, and Deuce -
also known as the vehicles belonging to Bob, Lisa, and me.
It might appear that we're a Mazda loving family, and we are, although this is strongly influenced by the fact that Mazda employs one of us (the husband), explaining the trio of Mazda's that live at our house. The husband gets a demo to drive - currently Robin, the Mazda3 hatchback the color of a blue highlighter. The live-in nurse/sister took advantage of a good deal last year and purchased Penelope, the pretty blue-grey Mazda3 that is peeking through, in which she likes to zoom around and jam to tunes. And I, via a really good deal on the employee spouse lease program, drive Deuce, the silver Mazda2 in front. What I don't have in this photo are the identical red Mazda6's that both my parents and Bob's parents have also purchased, nor the CX-9 that his sister drives. Not to mention the Mazda3 my brother Craig bought, who has since upgraded to a "I own a home now and need a bigger vehicle" truck.
And yes, all cars should have names (along with other appliances and household items). My Civic was named Ellen, and Bob's old car was named Sabrina. The names have become more challenging since his demo changes about every six months, so we decided all cars of the same model could share a name. In the past few years he has driven a few Diego's (the CX-9, my favorite), Hannah (CX-7), Calloway (Mazda6), and Mona (the 4-door Mazda3).
But don't worry, I won't do an entire blog post about Usga and Fusga (the computers), Tiffany (the kitchen light), or Jim (the indoor/outdoor thermometer) - although the plants might be worthy once they bloom this spring!
All I can say is.....Wow. (In a good way. :) By the way, what exactly does that mean when you say your sister is a live-in nurse? Isn't a live-in nurse a nurse who lives with her patient? (Which would make either you or Bob her patient??) Or do you mean that your sister is a nurse who also happens to live with you?
ReplyDeleteWe began calling her the live-in nurse when she moved here and said she never wanted to move again. So we tease that she belongs with the house, and one day we would sell the home with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large family room, and a live-in nurse. What a bargain it would be for the next family. Ha!
ReplyDeleteMy last car, a 1995 Honda Accord, was named "Faith" because she was so faithful to me for so long. I seriously cried when I got rid of her, but then again, I was also about 8 months pregnant at the time. My car now, a Mazda CX-9, is named "Hope" because we hope she will last as long as Faith did!
ReplyDeleteAnnie, I foresee a "Love" in your future! I remember how excited I was when you got your CX-9...hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it, I remember you asking to sit in my car when I got it. :) I do love it! She's been good to us so far.
