Sweet Matthew Boy

Matthew came to visit this weekend. Technically, his mama and nana came to visit, too; but let's just be honest - it's all about the baby! I shared him with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Bob, and even went to bed twice while he was still awake and going strong way past my bedtime. But otherwise I soaked him in as much as I could and loved on him and spoiled him for a few days.
Here's what I learned about Matthew:
  • He is just shy of three months old now, which means he is cooing and making precious sounds.
  • He gets his days and nights confused, as some of his happiest times and best smiles come about 11:30 pm and 5:00 am.
  • He likes when we sing to him. Taylor Swift got some smiles.
  • He is, as Aunt Lisa says, extremely orally fixated. He pretty constantly is sucking (loudy) a pacifier, his thumb, his fist, both his fists, someone else's finger, or the arm of whoever is holding him. He also has a tendency to stick his hands so far into his mouth that he gags himself. Maybe at month four he'll learn cause and effect.
  •
  • He has gorgeous blue eyes, like his mama.
  • He has a huge smile that takes up his entire face, I suppose like his daddy.
  • He loves Uncle Bob the best, at least it seemed so from the smiles he always gave him. Perhaps it's the bright shirts Uncle Bob wore.
  •

  • He does the Gator chomp pretty well, with just a little help from Aunt Karen.
  • He is dearly loved by mama and daddy, nana and grandpa, and many aunts and uncles.
The good news is that I have another nephew due to Brian and Becky in August, so the love will be multiplied!
